Safety and security

Take normal, sensible precautions and enjoy your time in Perth.

Over the past 50 years, Australia has taken pride in cultivating its status as one of the world’s most successful, multicultural countries. The city of Perth is no exception.

In Perth

Perth's Central Business District is generally safe, but as in any big city, attention to your personal safety is recommended.

Transperth operates Perth’s public transport network, with thousands of closed-circuit television cameras located on all trains, buses, ferries, and at most train stations.

Security officers can see what’s happening across the entire network, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Transit police also travel on trains after hours.
