Why study this course?

This micro-credential covers the basics of data structures and algorithms, which form the foundations of computer science applications we see today, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, computer vision, and more. As our digital world grows, it is important to understand the fundamentals of where all the technologies are built on. This will provide you with the basics of understanding computer science as a field, which can then be further developed with advanced skills and knowledge in your further studies.

No existing knowledge of computer science is required. However, it is recommended to have a good understanding of mathematics equivalent to Year 11 Maths.

How does it work?

This micro-credential teaches computer science fundamentals, covering algorithms, data structures, computer organization, and architecture. Its objective is to invoke students' curiosity in computer science by providing a solid foundation.

50 hours total learning - including:

• Lecture: 7 x 2 hours
• Labs: 5 x 2 hours
• Assessment:6 hours
• Self-study: 20 hours for preparation, readings, revision.
