Changes to admission requirements

Undergraduate

Direct entry for accomplished Korean, Indonesian and Hong Kong high school students

UWA recognises the Indonesian Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA), South Korea College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) and Hong Kong Associate Degrees in its undergraduate entry requirements. English language requirement waived for UWA applicants with a Canning College Diploma of Commerce

Canning College Diploma of Commerce graduates are now recognised as having met UWA’s minimum English language requirement for entry to UWA full degree programs.

Postgraduate

English language requirement waived for postgraduate applicants who complete a year of university study*

Applicants who have successfully completed one year of full-time or equivalent higher education studies, within the last two years from a recognised degree granting institution* in Australia, Canada (excluding Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, will be recognised as satisfying minimum English language competence requirements for postgraduate admission. Changes to admissions processes

Offers combined for CELT English language courses and UWA undergraduate and postgraduate (coursework) courses

Applicants who seek admission to UWA via an English language program will now receive combined offer letters from the Centre for English Language Teaching and UWA. The combined offer is part of a broad strategic initiative to streamline admissions processes.

Online application fee waiver extended to 31 March 2016

UWA’s fee waiver code (NOFEE2015) used by agents to waive the AUD$100 online application fee will extend to 31 March 2016. UWA marketing managers will evaluate the effectiveness of the code as an agent incentive over the next few months to determine if it will continue beyond March.

UWA streamlines accommodation application process

All students wishing to apply to live at a UWA Residential College will now apply through the UWA Residential Colleges Application Portal. This central online portal makes the application process much easier for new students wanting to live on campus at one of the five UWA residential colleges – St Catherine’s College, St George’s College, St Thomas More College, Trinity or University Hall. Students only need to apply online once to be considered by all colleges. Visit the website for details.

Course and schedule updates

New International Course Guides and mini-guides 2016-2017

UWA has released the new International Course Guides and combined mini-guides. The course guides will be distributed to agent offices throughout August and the mini-guide will be available at international events and fairs throughout the year. Visit the website to download the guides.

Undergraduate

Business School:

UWA's Finance major has been accepted by the CFA Institute University Recognition Program. The recognition demonstrates that the UWA Finance major is good preparation for students who intend to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification – a qualification which is highly sought after by global financial organisations. Faculty of Arts:

The European Studies major and Gender Studies major have been rescinded.

Postgraduate

Faculty of Arts:

Master of Medieval and Early Modern Studies and Master of European Studies are now rescinded. Professional Archaeology courses will not be be available in 2016: Graduate Certificate 12210, Graduate Diploma 12310 and Masters 12510.

Business School:

Master of Business Information will be renamed Master of Business Information and Logistics Management to effectively represent the logistics components of the course.

New Master of Commerce and Master of Commercial Law (088741B):

UWA has just announced a two-year double degree program. As soon as further details are available, we'll include a flyer on this website.

Faculty of Education:

Graduate Diploma in Professional Education is no longer available due to limited availability of course units that will not permit a full-time load for international students with a visa.

Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Computing:

The Master of Professional Engineering has been assessed for accreditation by Engineers Australia, the national accreditation body. As is standard practice for new courses, it has provisional accreditation until the required number of students graduate in 2014/15.

Law School:

The Direct Pathway to the Juris Doctor has reduced by one ATAR point, down from 98 to 97.

Faculty of Science:

Professional accreditation has led to an increase in the IELTS requirement for Psychology courses. These now require an IELTS of 7.0 with no band less than 7.0 upon application.
