Domestic Fees

Postgraduate – Commonwealth supported students

For Commonwealth Supported Places, student contribution amounts are charged by unit. Units in the Master of Social Work are charged at a discounted rate, and are not displayed in the Fee Calculator for Commonwealth Supported students. In 2021, a 6 point unit costs $993 in the Master of Social Work.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—
(a) a bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA.
and
(b) the equivalent of a Health and Medical Sciences Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.0.

Ranking and Selection Process

Where relevant, admission will be awarded to the highest ranked applicants or applicants selected based on—
(a)the admission requirements under Rule 4;
and
(b) an interview in which eligible applicants will be assessed based on the personal qualities considered desirable in a social worker, with invitation to attend the interview based on Rule 4, in alignment with the interview quota for the year;
(c) the intake quota for the year

English language requirements

Below is a summary of how the ELC requirement may be satisfied for admission to UWA Social Work.

At least two years full-time equivalent study at tertiary level in one of the following countries:

  • Australia
  • New Zealand 
  • United Kingdom 
  • Republic of Ireland 
  • United States of America
  • Canada (except Quebec)
  • South Africa, where studies are taught and assessed in English. 

OR
A valid IELTS (Academic) minimum score of 7.0 overall with at least 7.0 in each section.
