Course Structure

AQUAtech Specialisation

This specialisation encompasses fundamental knowledge and training in methods to generate aquatic products, services and energy. Students will develop an understanding of the impact aquaculture operations from an environmental, social and economic standpoints. Students will receive training in aquatic production systems, environmental impact assessments all underpinned with expertise in marine ecology and next generation molecular biological approaches as applied to aquatic ecosystems.

Advanced training and studies using new generation biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, including synthetic biology, to understand cellular content, structure, organisation and interactions assessed with the current state of the art technologies.

The application of biotechnology to the environmental arena. Biotechnological applications for environmental monitoring, protection and food security in a changing world.

Advanced studies in current state of the art genomics and genetics techniques, from high throughput systems for analysing 'omic components, to synthetic biology, to advanced bioinformatic components for large data set analyses and database searching.
