Recommend a resource to the Library

The Library welcomes recommendations for new resources such as books and journals from UWA staff and students. Before submitting a recommendation, check OneSearch to see if the item is already held or on order.

Recommendations for new subscriptions can be made in consultation with your Librarian Support Team.

Recommendations for resources such as books or audiovisual material can be submitted using the Order details form.

Orders for essential items for units are treated as urgent and additional copies are purchased based on student enrolments.

The Library prefers electronic formats. Ebooks are generally available within four weeks. Most physical items are received within six weeks of ordering. Difficult-to-source items or items ordered from overseas may take longer.

When your item is available, you’ll be notified by email that it is ready for online viewing or borrowing. If you want to check the status of your order, or have any other queries, please email [email protected].

Educators selecting new teaching materials may like to consider Open Educational Resources (OER) which support equitable and inclusive learning and teaching practices by providing materials that can be freely used, shared and adapted. See the Library's OER for Educators guide for more information.

Requesting options for staff and postgraduates

We digitise print resources on demand. Use the 'Request an Extract' option in OneSearch and a digital scan of the book extract or article will be emailed to you.

On-shelf requesting

We collect your requested books from the shelf and make them available for pick up at your preferred UWA Library. If you're a staff member, you can choose to have them delivered straight to your office. Use the 'Request Item' option in OneSearch to place your request.

Get It for staff and postgraduates

Use our Get It document delivery and interlibrary loan service to request resources not available at UWA. We’ll source and obtain a loan or copy of your requested resource from libraries around the world.

Place a Get It request using the ‘Not held by UWA? Get It from another library’ option in OneSearch.

You can find resources to request via Get It by using Expand my Search and Worldcat within OneSearch.

  • Expand my Search – Tick ‘Expand my Search’ to include resources without full text access.
  • WorldCat – When entering your search, select ‘WorldCat’ from the drop-down menu to search resources not held at UWA.

You can also place a Get It request from the OneSearch banner. Fill in the form detailing the resource you require

Requesting options for regional and offshore staff and students

Regional staff and students can request items for loan and scanned digital copies using OneSearch. Requested items will be delivered to you via express post, and can be returned using the prepaid satchel included with your item.

For Albany staff and students, requested items will be delivered and returned via the UWA Albany Campus.

Offshore staff and students can request scanned digital copies using OneSearch and will be delivered via email.

Requesting options for members of the public

You can request UWA resources held in storage, including UWA print theses, and view them in the Library. Use OneSearch to find the item’s details and place your request using the store request form. Our team will contact you with the next steps for your request. Note that some items can only be viewed at the Reid Library or Special Collections.
