Request and recommend
You can request resources from UWA collections using OneSearch, including books on loan and items held in storage.
If you need something for your research and teaching that isn’t available at UWA, place a Get It request using OneSearch and we'll source your item for you from another library.

Request books, articles, theses and other resources in OneSearch. Different request options are available depending on the type of resource and whether you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student, staff member or member of the public.
All UWA staff and students can request books on loan or items held in storage. Sign in to OneSearch and view an item to see your request options.
Regional staff and students can request items for loan and scanned digital copies using OneSearch. Requested items will be delivered to you via express post, and you can return these to the Library using the prepaid satchel included with your item. For Albany Centre staff and students, requested items will be delivered and returned via the Albany Centre.
Offshore staff and students can request scanned digital copies using OneSearch. Requested items will be delivered to you via express post, and you can return these to the Library using the prepaid satchel included with your item.
You can request UWA resources held in storage, including UWA print theses, and view them in the Library. Use OneSearch to find the item’s details and place your request using the store request form. Our team will contact you with the next steps for your request. Note that some items can only be viewed at the Reid Library or Special Collections.

Recommend a resource to the library
The Library welcomes recommendations for new resources such as books and journals from UWA staff and students. Before submitting a recommendation, check OneSearch to see if the item is already held or on order.
Recommendations for new subscriptions can be made in consultation with your Library faculty team.
Recommendations for resources such as books or audiovisual material can be submitted using the order details form or by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Email orders must include your details and details of the new title including:
- Staff/Student ID number
- Full name
- Item details: Title, Author, ISBN, Publisher, Date of Publication
- Is it urgent? (Yes/No)
- If the title is for a unit, is it an essential or recommended reading?
- Unit code (if applicable) and estimated number of students enrolled
Orders for essential items for units are treated as urgent and additional copies are purchased based on student enrolments. If you require The Co-op to stock copies of books for purchase, contact them directly.
The Library prefers electronic formats. Ebooks are generally available within four weeks. Most physical items are received within six weeks of ordering. Difficult-to-source items or items ordered from overseas may take longer.
When your item is available, you’ll be notified by email that it is ready for online viewing or borrowing. If you want to check the status of your order, email email@example.com.
