Our research

As a research-intensive faculty, we encourage the lifelong assessment and adaption of new theories, treatments and diagnostic techniques that incorporate a holistic approach to the health sciences and a more sensitive interaction with patients.

Our pioneering research work in many fields continues to have impact on the health of people worldwide – be it in preventing preterm birth, discovering the genetic basis of inherited and acquired disorders, or regenerative medicine.

Areas of research priority are:

  • Ageing and aged care
  • Antimicrobial resistance
  • Arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions
  • Asthma
  • Cancer control
  • Cardiovascular health
  • Dementia
  • Diabetes
  • Health security
  • Indigenous health
  • Injury prevention
  • Maternal health in the first 200 days
  • Mental health
  • Obesity
Nothing is more exciting than making a discovery or testing your own original hypothesis. The efficiency of modern research has increased so much that creative people will find it a fantastic and fast-moving career choice.
