Leona Marquand is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Planning and Strategic Initiatives) and Chief Financial Officer at The University of Western Australia, responsible for leading the University’s enterprise-wide strategy, major programs and initiatives. She oversees a broad Executive Portfolio including Strategy, Planning and Performance, Student Load and Planning, and University Program Office, ensuring the University’s long term vision is translated into clear priorities, execution and measurable performance.
Leona brings a strong strategic lens shaped by an international career in a top tier professional services firm across the Channel Islands, United Kingdom and Australia. In these roles, she provided advice and assurance to global companies and investment vehicles. Her background as a Fellow Chartered Accountant and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors underpins her ability to integrate commercial insight with strategic planning and institutional performance.
At UWA, Leona draws on her experience to guide the University’s strategic direction, aligning planning, performance and major initiatives to deliver sustainable impact. Her leadership combines deep knowledge of the higher education sector with a proven track record in complex program delivery and enterprise-wide strategic plan delivery.
