UWA's Formula Student Electric Team
The UWA Motorsport workshop in the Faculty of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences is an end-to-end engaging, educational experience for those interested in working on motorsport vehicles. Our students compete in the electric category of Formula Student, an international engineering competition with a motorsport theme.
The award-winning project team consists of more than 60 volunteer students who conceive, design, build, test and race a vehicle to compete in Formula SAE competitions worldwide.
The project gives students the opportunity to develop their technical, time-management and interpersonal skills, as well as to develop experience in organising, managing and financing an engineering enterprise, while working across engineering disciplines.
In 2017 UWA began collaborating with Edith Cowan University Racing in a joint team called Australian Formula Collective (AFC). AFC aims to highlight Western Australian engineering talent at Formula Student competitions overseas.
UWA Motorsport acknowledges the following groups with which it works to enhance understanding and appreciation of this educational endeavour.
