UWA India

A new chapter begins

The University of Western Australia (UWA) is preparing to bring world-class education and research to India.

UWA has formally applied to the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish campuses across India. Pending approval from both the UGC and the UWA Senate, the University intends to launch campuses in Mumbai (the proposed central hub), Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

Deepening a strategic partnership

India and Western Australia share a long-standing connection built on research, trade, and innovation. With India now one of the world’s leading innovation ecosystems, and Western Australia accelerating its position as a global hub of knowledge and investment, this initiative is a natural next step in strengthening those ties.

By establishing a physical presence in India, UWA aims to deepen educational and economic relationships, create new research and industry partnerships, and foster opportunities for collaboration that benefit both regions.
