Domestic student fees
Find everything you need to know about tuition fees and related costs for domestic students at UWA.
Tuition fees
All domestic students at UWA are required to pay tuition fees for their studies. For most Australian students, these fees are partly subsidised by the Federal Government, making university more affordable. The remaining amount, known as the student contribution, can be paid upfront to the University or deferred through a HECS-HELP loan.
Australian citizens, permanent humanitarian visa holders and New Zealand citizens under a Special Visa Category are eligible for this option. Other New Zealand citizens and non-humanitarian permanent residents of Australia are required to pay their student contribution in full, directly to the University.
Further information on eligibility for the Special Visa Category is available at Study Assist.
Student contribution amounts
At UWA, courses comprise a number of units. A standard unit is worth six credit points. Full-time students usually study four six-credit-point units in a semester for a total of eight six-credit-point units in a year. Fees are billed on a semester basis.
The amount of an individual's student contribution each semester depends on the mix of units in which they are enrolled. Full details of costs of units are available on the Fee Calculator.
