The Provisional Entry Scheme, run by the School of Indigenous Studies (SIS), supports Indigenous students to get into uni by recognising other life, work and/or study experiences and providing places for WACE students with lower ATAR scores.

Entry categories

WACE students

If you’re an Indigenous student taking WACE and are expecting an ATAR lower than your chosen undergraduate course entry requirement, then the Provisional Entry Scheme is a great option.

You’ll need to have:

  • Completed WACE
  • Graduated from Year 12
  • Achieved a reasonable ATAR (roughly 70 or more, depending on the course)
  • Completed any WACE prerequisites for the course you’re applying for (e.g., WACE English)

Non-WACE students

Very similar to UWA’s experience-based entry pathway, this pathway is for students who have:

  • A good education background (e.g., TAFE, an apprenticeship or bridging course)
  • And/or relevant work experience
  • And/or are a mature-age student (aged 20+)

As part of your application, you’ll need to:

  • Provide your CV/resume
  • Copies of any certificates/academic transcripts from previous studies (if applicable)
  • Complete an assessment as part of the application process

How to apply

Get in touch

Get in touch with the School of Indigenous Studies (SIS) team to talk about your interest in the Provisional Entry Scheme and the undergraduate degree you’re seeking entry into.

Attend the University Entrance Workshop

This information session is a chance to have a yarn about your career and study goals, your past life/work/study experiences and what support you might need to complete your studies. Our team will also determine which is the best entry pathway into uni for you, whether that’s through the Provisional Entry Scheme, Aboriginal Orientation Course or experience-based entry. If you haven’t already applied for uni entry, you can also do this at the workshop.
