Compete against other Western Australian universities

The Western Series aims to provide the opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to compete in exciting local intervarsity competitions against other Western Australian universities. 

In 2026 the following Western Series events are planned:

  • International Student Challenge

    When: Tuesday 24 March 2026, 8am-4pm (lunch provided)
    Where: UWA Sports Hall, UWA Crawley Campus
    Sports: Volleyball, Badminton, Cricket, Pickleball, Soccer , Squash & Tennis
    Eligibility: International and study abroad students
    Cost: Free

  • Indigenous Games

    When: Tuesday 19 May 2026
    Time: 9:00am - 4:30pm
    Where: 
    UWA Sport - multiple venues
    Sports: Basketball, Netball, Volleyball and Touch Rugby
    Eligibility: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
    Cost: Free

  • Pride Cup

    The Pride Cup is exciting opportunity for LGBTQIA+ students and their active allies*  from all Western Australian universities to participate in All Gender sporting competition. This event is in partnership with LGBTQIA+ sporting organisation 'Pride Cup'

    When: TBC
    Where: UWA Fitness and Recreation Centre 
    Sports: TBC
    Eligibility: LGBTQIA+ students and active allies
    Teams: Minimum 3 people, maximum 5 people. Each team member needs to complete an individual registration
    Cost: Free

    *Active Ally: Students who are allies to the LGBTQIA+ students competing in this event and visibly support the inclusion of all LGBTQIA+ people. Active Allies understand the discrimination and harassment that many LGBTQIA+ people face and continue to educate themselves on how they can be an active ally.

  • All Abilities Cup

    UWA Sport will host the third Western Series All Abilities Cup. An exciting opportunity for students from all Western Australian universities to participate in the Wheelchair Footy sporting competition. This event is in partnership with the West Australian All Abilities Football Association (WAAAFA).

     Wednesday 22 April 2026
    Where: UWA Fitness and Recreation Centre
    Sport: Wheelchair Footy, Sitting Volleyball and Wheelchair Basketball
    Eligibility: Current UWA students of all abilities
    Cost: Free

  • Western Series Invitational

    When: Monday 22 June - Friday 26 June 2026 
    Where: Edith Cowan University 
    Sports: TBC
    Eligibility: Open to individual or team registrations 
    Cost: TBC

  • Western Series - Badminton

    When: Tuesday 28 April 2026
    Time: All day (specific times to be announced)
    Where: Murdoch University
    Eligibility:  International and study abroad students
    Registrations:  Open to all individual or team registrations

  • Western Series - Tennis
    When: Wednesday 6 May 2026
    Time: All day (specific times to be announced)
    Where: The University of Western Australia, Crawley Campus, UWA Tennis Court
    Eligibility:  International and study abroad students
    Registrations: Open to all individual or team registrations
  • Western Series - Ultimate Frisbee
    When: Thursday 30 April 2026
    Time: All day (specific times to be announced)
    Where: The University of Western Australia, Crawley Campus
    Eligibility:  International and study abroad students

  • Western Series - Volleyball
