Complex Data Modelling
Understanding big and small complex data systems and engineering
Using innovative techniques, the Complex Data Modelling research group at UWA develops mathematical, statistical and computational methodology to support engineering projects.
The group’s research focuses on the challenges of model-building in the face of engineering data – big or small. It works with industry partners including Lloyds Register, Shell and BHP.
Research opportunities are available for students. If you would like to submit an expression of interest for a research opportunity, fill out our form or email hdr-ems@uwa.edu.au with any questions.
Some areas where the group’s expertise is used in solving complex problems include:
- Statistics – addressing the challenges in applying statistical or deterministic model-based methods across the range of problems that generate big data
- Reliability and asset management
- Complex systems
- Computational simulation
- Computer vision and pattern recognition, tomography and geometric methods
