Forrest Hall precinct
The University of Western Australia’s Forrest Hall precinct plays a pivotal role in supporting the Forrest Research Foundation, which drives research and innovation capacity in Western Australia by awarding fellowships and scholarships to emerging local and international researchers (associated with all Western Australian universities).
The Forrest Research Foundation was established in 2014 following a generous donation from Andrew and Nicola Forrest through one of Australasia’s largest philanthropies, The Minderoo Foundation.
The precinct has been developed in two stages. The first building contains 43 self-catered apartments exclusively for Forrest Research Foundation Scholars and Fellows, each equipped with an outdoor terrace or balcony and sweeping river views. There is also a multi-purpose room for seminars and functions available for the University community to use.
Now, the second stage of the precinct is set to support the long-term future of the Foundation, through the reinvestment of net revenue generated from short-stay accommodation into the Foundation.
Australia’s largest hotel operator Accor manages Wonil Hotel. a peaceful place to stay with most of the 66 rooms featuring balconies overlooking the Swan River. The hotel is available for visitors to any of Western Australia’s five universities, plus business and leisure guests wishing to take advantage of the great location and views. The building will also house nine additional Forrest Scholars and their partners as well as office space leased to The Minderoo Foundation.
Wonil Hotel features a locally influenced restaurant and bar, plus a panoramic outdoor terrace perfect for events or a beverage overlooking the river. The hotel and restaurant showcases quality Western Australian produce with welcoming service and a community focus.
