FACILITY

Imaging @ Science

Specialised services in light microscopy, live cell imaging and confocal microscopy

Our Biological Imaging Lab acquires high-resolution images and videos specialising in optical microscopy, including bright field, fluorescent and confocal microscopy to image live and fixed samples.

The lab has cutting-edge inverted and upright microscopes which support Hoffman, phase, Nomarski and fluorescent microscopy, and a wide range of conventional, digital and low-light cameras and scanners are also available.

A digitising suite and live-cell imaging stations allow grabbing and editing time-lapse movies of living cultures or other types of video production. The lab offers various microscopy techniques including brightfield, phase contrast, differential interference contrast (DIC), reflected light microscopy, darkfield, fluorescence and confocal, and has a number of instruments covering these modes with a focus on live cell microscopy and deconvolution image processing. Various data analysis packages and specialist services are provided to extract valuable data from captured images.
