
Ms Beatriz Cuesta Briand
Biography
Beatriz worked in customer service management in the private sector both in the United Kingdom and in Spain before re-orienting her career towards public health.
Since moving to Australia in 2002, Beatriz has worked in the aged care sector, first as an advocate, and later in policy development. After completing her MPH at UWA, Beatriz worked for The Cancer Council of Western Australia, where she coordinated the Cancer Council’s consumer participation initiatives.
Beatriz currently works at the School of Population Health on a research project that is lead by a panel of community members and consumers, while completing a PhD exploring the impact of type 2 diabetes on low socio-economic groups.
Beatriz has a strong interest in social justice issues, health inequalities and consumer participation, and she is a member of the School of Population Health’s Consumer and Community Advisory Council.
