Beyond career advancement, studying agricultural technology offers the chance to work in a field that drives sustainable food production, improves efficiency, and supports global food security. By working with innovative solutions for modern farming challenges, graduates of this course can make a meaningful impact on both the industry and the world. The active learning approach ensures participants develop technical proficiency with real-world contexts, making them better prepared to implement and adapt to emerging technologies.
Whether aiming to stay competitive in the industry, explore new career pathways, or integrate cutting-edge innovations into farming practices, this micro-credential offers the essential foundational tools to contribute to the future of agriculture.
Who should study this course?
This course is ideal for professionals, students, and educators looking to develop expertise in agricultural technology. It is well suited to learners with backgrounds in:
1) Engineering who are looking to acquire knowledge and skills relevant to agricultural technology.
2) Tech savvy agriculture sector professionals (farmers, ag scientists, agronomists, technicians) who are interested in developing skills and knowledge in new technology.
3) Educators keen to understand the future of agricultural technology to prepare their students.
Whether transitioning into the industry or expanding existing skills, this course provides a strong foundation in the future of farming.
Recommended prior knowledge
It is recommended to have completed micro-credentials:AENGM401 Introduction to Agricultural Technology
AENGM402 Agricultural Technology Software Systems
No specific previous study is required as the interdisciplinary course will scaffold learning in a number of areas to accommodate a wide breadth of course recipients if lacking experience in a particular area. However, learners with prior study in the following areas will be well prepared to make the most of the course: engineering (mechanical, electrical, robotics and automation), computer science, agricultural science (particularly with AgTech major), double degree holders.
What's next after this course?
Students are encouraged to complete subsequent micro-credentials in this series to further expand their knowledge and dive deeper in Ag Tech. These micro-credentials can be stacked towards a Graduate Certificate in Agricultural Engineering Innovation.
Students can go on to complete Masters level study in agricultural engineering or agricultural technology. Or they can utilise the overview from the course to identify areas of focus for directed specification study e.g. robotics. Industry professionals can apply the knowledge gained on farm to improve farm efficiencies.
