Student Equity
UWA is committed to continuing to widen participation and support students from diverse backgrounds in higher education. The Student Equity team sits within the Student Life portfolio, and our layered and long-term approach includes initiatives embedded across at all stages of the student life cycle.
Our programs provide broad-based, early intervention outreach and an admission entry pathway for students of high potential but limited means and opportunity.
We would like to thank our supporters: the Alcoa Foundation, Rio Tinto, Monadelphous, Babcock, Newmont, ATCO, Firecroft Australia and the many kind individuals who share our belief in the transformative power of education.
School of Indigenous Studies outreach program
Our programs encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students to pursue a tertiary education by introducing them to uni life. Students will have the chance to meet current UWA students, learn about the courses available and entry pathways.
Girls in engineering
This program inspires female students to take advantage of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics study and career pathways, focusing on areas of science where women are often underrepresented.
Children’s university
This program offers children in primary schools the chance to participate in learning activities beyond the classroom. Embracing local learning opportunities offered by places like public libraries, zoos, parks, museums and many more. Families are closely involved in the program, joining children in their learning journey and supporting their goals.
