HDR scholarships and fees
At UWA, we’re proud to support the next generation of researchers through a range of scholarships funded by the Australian Government, the University and external organisations. These scholarships can help cover tuition fees, living costs, travel, research expenses and relocation.

2027 International Scholarship Round
- Open: 1 August 2026 (9:00am AWST)
- Close: 15 September 2026 (11:59pm AWST)
- Ranking: October 2026
- Offers: from November 2026
- Commencement: February–March 2027
2027 Domestic Scholarship Round (Including UWA international graduates)
- Open: 1 October 2026 (9:00am AWST)
- Close: 31 October 2026 (11:59pm AWST)
- Commencement: February 2027

Find out everything you need to know including eligibility, selection criteria, scholarship conditions and more.
- Choose your course and supervisor
If you haven’t already, explore your options, select your course or project and reach out to a potential supervisor.
- Apply for a scholarship
Apply for your chosen course and the 2027 International Scholarship Round as your scholarship selection via the online HDR application portal . This application is for both admission and scholarships. No separate application is required for RTP scholarships consideration.
If you are a current international HDR candidate or applicant already holding a UWA HDR Offer Letter, apply for the scholarship via the online Scholarship application form - no additional application is required in HDRhub.

Tuition fees for HDR
The amount you will pay for tuition fees will depend on your Higher Degree by Research course, your enrolment and your citizenship, as well as any scholarships you may be awarded. Tuition fees are due to be paid at the start of each semester.
