At UWA, we’re proud to support the next generation of researchers through a range of scholarships funded by the Australian Government, the University and external organisations. These scholarships can help cover tuition fees, living costs, travel, research expenses and relocation.

2027 Domestic Scholarship Round (Including UWA international graduates*)

*A UWA international graduate is a UWA international student who graduated in 2025 or 2026, or who will complete their qualifying degree at UWA by the end of 2026.
Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships, stipends and allowances
The Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP) provides funding to support both domestic and international students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Master’s degrees. At UWA, RTP funding is used to support eligible students through the following types of scholarships:Domestic RTP Tuition Fees Offset Scholarships
Automatically provided to all domestic HDR students, without the need for a competitive application process.
International RTP Tuition Fees Offset Scholarships
Awarded to a limited number of international students, via a competitive selection process.
RTP Stipend Scholarships (living allowance)
Awarded to a limited number of domestic and international students, via a competitive selection process. The current value in 2027 is $39,253 per annum.
RTP Allowances
Awarded to assist students with ancillary costs of Higher Degree by Research, such as relocation expenses.

HDR tuition fees
The amount you will pay for tuition fees will depend on your Higher Degree by Research course, your enrolment and your citizenship, as well as any scholarships you may be awarded. Tuition fees are due to be paid at the start of each semester.
