English competency

English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.

Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0.

Domestic Pathways

  • Domestic Assured Pathway/School Leaver Entry: Applications are lodged via TISC. Refer to TISC Online for current course codes and application deadlines. 
  • Domestic Graduate Entry: Applications are lodged via GEMSAS, which open and close in accordance with the GEMSAS timeline. All domestic applicants must submit a valid GAMSAT score by the application closing date.

International Pathways

Course details

The Combined Bachelor and Master (CBM) is a four-year accelerated program for those with an ATAR of 90 or above. Over the first three years you'll complete an extended major in Plant Biology and some units from the Master of Biotechnology. You can then choose to exit after three years with an Advanced Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, or continue with the Master of Biotechnology and be awarded a Bachelor of Biological Science and Master of Biotechnology at the end of the four years.

The Bachelor of Biological Science teaches you how living organisms, ranging from microbes to megaflora and megafauna, grow, reproduce, adapt and evolve. The Master of Biotechnology is a signature program that set us apart from other universities by offering a thorough grounding in state-of-the-art biotechnology and combining this with training in enterprise and commercialisation.
