Project Description

This project focused on damage detection of fixed offshore platforms by implementing Machine Learning Algorithms (MLA). To replicate an offshore platform, a sample 2 meters high and 3-storey aluminium frame platform will was constructed and deployed into the Swan River. Three sensors were allocated on the platform (one on each level of the frame) and this allows the trained algorithm to detect and narrow down the area of damage. Water surface elevation and frame displacements (6 DOF at each level) will be recorded. MLA techniques were trained to correlate water surface elevation and the frame displacements.
