Strange Sensation
31 July – 19 September 2026
Strange Sensation brings together contemporary artists from the UWA Art Collection whose works disturb our sense of the familiar. Drawing on Surrealist and Freudian legacies of the uncanny, artworks in the exhibition represent blurred thresholds of affect, memory and perception. Faces, forms and suggestions of the body appear as sites of both connection and disquiet, revealing how the familiar can slip into the strange. In this space of uncertainty, Strange Sensation provokes the subconscious forces that animate our encounters with images and things.
