UWA’s Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Education brings together some of our greatest minds to ask the important questions in life.

We generate valuable research across seven Schools, impacting and improving lives both nationally and internationally.

Our research is consistently ranked above world standards, contributing knowledge to shape policy and practice. We support researchers throughout their careers, from PhD students and early-career researchers, to award-winning professors and Australian Laureate fellows.

The research centres, groups and entities within our Faculty include dedicated teams working on social impact, Western Australian history, rock art conservation and management, Muslim studies, urban design, and more.

By collaborating closely with industry partners, local community organisations and government, together we're focussing on the global challenges facing our world.

Professor Erika Techera

Professor Erika Techera is an international and comparative law academic at the UWA Law School who is focused on improving legal frameworks across the Indian Ocean to enhance marine environmental governance.

Andrew Foote is a Helpmann Award winner, current opera performer and Chair of Vocal Studies at the UWA Conservatorium of Music.

Associate Professor Ian Murray

Associate Professor Ian Murray, from the UWA Law School, researches in the areas of resources taxation, not-for-profit tax law and corporate governance.

Dr Daniel Juckes

Dr Daniel Juckes is a writer, editor, teacher and researcher in the disciplines of Creative Writing and English and Literary Studies at the UWA School of Humanities.

Dr Rosangela Tenorio

Dr Rosangela Tenorio is an academic and architect specialising in design for development.

Dr Cecilia Sun

Dr Cecilia Sun is a lecturer at the UWA Conservatorium of Music. She is a celebrated musician, pianist and promoter of women’s studies in music.

Associate Professor Bonnie Thomas

Bonnie Thomas is an Associate Professor of French language and literature. A/Prof Thomas conducts research on francophone Caribbean literature and is nationally awarded for her teaching abilities.

Dr Julian Bolleter

Dr Julian Bolleter is an urban designer, researcher and teacher, tackling issues facing Australian cities in the 21st century.

Professor Amanda Davies

Professor Amanda Davies is the Head of UWA’s School of Social Sciences and a lecturer and researcher of human geography.

Associate Professor Sarah Collins

Associate Professor Sarah Collins is a lecturer of musicology at the UWA Conservatorium of Music. She seeks to understand the ways in which music and sound shape our culture.

Professor Alan Lourens

Professor Alan Lourens is the Head of the Conservatorium of Music at The University of Western Australia.

Professor Susan Broomhall

Susan Broomhall is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow and Professor of History, researching the medieval and early modern world.

Dr Sven Ouzman

Dr Sven Ouzman is an archaeologist and activist who studies the forgotten worlds beneath and all around us, from exploring and finding artefacts in the field, to discovering them in the lab.

Emeritus Professor William (Bill) Taylor

Emeritus Professor William (Bill) M Taylor is a registered architect and academic at the UWA School of Design.

James Ledger is an ARIA award winner, renowned composer and senior lecturer in composition at the UWA Conservatorium of Music.

Anna Gadd

Dr Anna Gadd is a Lecturer in European languages within UWA’s School of Humanities.

Dr Marilyn Bromberg

Hoping to make the world a better place, Dr Bromberg has practised law for more than a decade and typically researches and writes about issues that can make a difference, such as body image law.

Tracy Redhead is a musician, researcher, composer and lecturer in electronic music, working with data mapping, programming, music interaction and dynamic music.

Professor David Gilchrist

Professor David Gilchrist is a researcher and teacher in accounting and economic policy whose current research focuses on the NDIS.

Dr Tijana Vujosevic

Assistant Professor Tijana Vujosevic is a historian of the built environment and published researcher at the School of Design at The University of Western Australia.

Winthrop Professor Nolan Sharkey is an international legal and social research expert tax adviser and academic at the UWA Law School.

Dr Liudmila Tarabashkina is a researcher at the UWA Business School and a marketing research consultant focusing on empowering consumers, assisting government with policy making and helping firms with strategic marketing communication.

Professor Tony Hughes-d'Aeth is Chair in Australian Literature, Discipline Chair for English and Literary Studies at UWA, and is the Director of the Westerly Centre.

Kirill de Lancastre Jedenov

Professor Natalie Skead

Professor Natalie Skead is UWA’s Dean of Law. She is a national award-winning teacher and prolific researcher in aspects of private law, proceeds of crime and legal education.

Dr Donella Caspersz is a published researcher, teacher and supervisor at the UWA Business School, specialising in employment relations and family business management.

Dr Kate Hislop

Dr Kate Hislop is a registered architect and has been an academic at UWA for over 20 years.

Professor Rob Wilson

Professor Rob Wilson is a philosopher and lecturer of philosophy at UWA in the School of Humanities.

Craig Ogden

Craig Ogden is a classic guitarist and recording artist with four number one albums on the UK classical music charts. He’s also an Adjunct Fellow at The University of Western Australia.

MBA Teaching Fellow Dee Roche is a coordinator and lecturer at the UWA Business School, specialising in leadership, strategic change and transformation.

Dr Renae Barker

Dr Renae Barker is a legal academic and senior lecturer at the UWA Law School. Her speciality is the interaction between law and religion.

Graeme Gilling

Graeme Gilling is an accomplished WASO pianist and musician. He is an Assistant Professor and the Chair of Keyboard Studies at UWA, with a special focus on collaborative performance and a love of teaching.

Associate Professor Jani McCutcheon

Associate Professor Jani McCutcheon is a law lecturer specialising in intellectual property law. She focuses on copyright and moral rights, and intersections between literature and law and art and law.

Professor Jac Birt

Dr Joseph Nolan

Dr Joseph Nolan is an internationally renowned and multi-award-winning organist who has played in some of the world’s most prestigious buildings, including Buckingham Palace for the Queen. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia.
