Launching your journey at UWA!
Everything you need to get set up for your upcoming studies at UWA is found here.
Follow all the steps and information given to ensure you are set up with UWA systems and ready to settle into university life.
1. Login to UWA student accounts
You will use your UniID account to access a range of online systems and services, including your UWA email. This email is the official communication channel that the university uses to contact you with important updates and helpful information. All correspondence regarding enrolment and orientation activities will be sent to your UWA Student email address.
2. Create a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
All students are required to obtain Unique Student Identifier (USI).Once you receive yours, submit it via studentConnect under 'Personal Details', then 'USI'.
Tip: If you are an international student and enrolling offshore, please ‘skip’ this step until you arrive in Australia.
3. Receive a Tax File Number (TFN)
If you don't have a tax file number, you need to apply to the Australian Taxation Office directly. You'll still be able to enrol without a tax file number. TFN is typically received within 28 days after submission of a completed application and required identity documents.
Tip: If you are an international student, you cannot receive a TFN until you have arrived in Australia.
To help determine what units to study, your next step is to visit the UWA handbook. You can search per your course and/or major or specialisation.
5. Create a personalised study plan
There are sample study plans available in the UWA Handbook under each course listing to help you create your own or you can download a sample study plan and checklist to help plan your choices.
6. Need help?
If you need assistance with designing or reviewing your study plan, contact your assigned allocated Student Advising Office by emailing your draft study plan to askUWA. Please allow time for this to be reviewed by a Student Advisor.
Tip: Check out the student glossary to learn all the UWA terminology.
