The UWA Fogarty Scholarships are the premier scholarships in WA. The Scholarship program has been established by The University of Western Australia in partnership with the Fogarty Foundation, to provide senior secondary students with an opportunity to undertake a cycle 1 undergraduate degree course and then a cycle 2 postgraduate degree by coursework at the University. The scholarship is intended for students who show significant academic potential, together with leadership ability and other outstanding achievements throughout Year 11 and 12.

To be eligible to take up a scholarship an awardee must—
(a) satisfy the academic requirements as specified in their conditional letter of offer;
(b) be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree course, unless the Coursework Scholarships Committee is satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances which preclude full-time enrolment; and
(c) agree to their academic results being provided to members of the UWA Fogarty Foundation Board of Review each year.
3. To be eligible to receive the scholarship at the cycle 2 postgraduate coursework level, a recipient must—
(a) have successfully completed their undergraduate degree course and have normally achieved a weighted average mark (WAM) of 75 or above. Students who do not meet this requirement may submit a case to the Manager, Coursework Scholarships and Prizes, for special consideration;
(b) be accepted into an approved cycle 2 postgraduate coursework course; and
(c) be enrolled full-time at the University, unless the Coursework Scholarships Committee is satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances which preclude full-time enrolment.
(d) exhibit a professional standard of behaviour, befitting a UWA Fogarty Scholar, in accordance with the Fogarty Foundation Code of Conduct policy.
4. A recipient may defer a cycle 2 scholarship for up to one year after successful completion of an undergraduate degree course.
The scholarship is intended for students who show significant academic potential, together with leadership ability and other outstanding achievements throughout Year 11 and 12.
Recipients of the scholarship are expected to participate actively in the Leadership and Enterprise Program. The Leadership and Enterprise Program provides the Scholars with broad insights into major challenges within the community in which they can contribute. Scholars are also part of the University’s mentor scheme for students in their first academic year, participation in other selected activities and periodic visits to schools to promote university education in general and the UWA Fogarty Foundation Scholarships.
Value: $10,000 per annum
Duration: The scholarship continues from cycle 1 through to cycle 2—
(a) Cycle 1: undergraduate degree course – six semesters, plus an additional two semesters for honours if applicable, which are normally consecutive
(b) Cycle 2: postgraduate degree by coursework – up to a maximum of eight semesters, which are normally consecutive.
