The Avant Foundation invests in the future of healthcare by supporting students undertaking education in medicine, with a focus on equity. The Foundation has agreed to provide a new bursary for one domestic student experiencing disadvantage for the four years of their Doctor of Medicine degree.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, an applicant must —
(a) be an Australian Citizen;
(b) be a commencing student;
(c) be enrolled or eligible to enrol, full time unless the selection body is satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances3 which preclude full time enrolment
(d) have received an offer for the Doctor of Medicine; and
(e) be experiencing financial hardship or experiencing one of the following circumstances that may have impacted their education
- Indigenous Australian
- Regional or Rural residency
- Living in a low socio-economic area
- Member of LGBTIQ+
- Culturally or Linguistically Diverse background
Applicants must provide a written statement of 200 - 400 words addressing the impacts of their educational disadvantage and how this scholarship will assist them in their study and provide any supporting documentation.
Benefits
To encourage and assist a full-time first year student experiencing disadvantage to undertake studies towards a Doctor of Medicine at the University.
The recipient will have the opportunity to:
1. become a student member of Avant.
2. potentially attend an Avant Foundation Annual Awards Dinner in Sydney in September 2026 (flights and accommodation paid for by The Avant Foundation) and could occur once during the four years of the scholarship.
3. participate in promotional/marketing opportunities for the Avant Bursary program, which may include being interviewed, filmed, photographed, and/or publication of written statement etc.
