The late Ms Odna Borlaug has bequeathed funds to The University of Western Australia ('the University') to establish a fund to provide a scholarship to assist and encourage a high-achieving female student, who is experiencing financial hardship, to commence and pursue an undergraduate qualification at the University with a major in Finance. <br> Odna Borlaug was a prominent philanthropist and community leader in Rockingham. Odna did not attend university, instead entering the finance industry in the 1950s and going on to become Western Australia's first female stockbroker. Despite facing many challenges in a male-dominated industry, including periods when she earned exactly half the salary of her male colleagues, Odna had a stellar career and eventually became the first woman Fellow of the Securities Institute.
