Albany Graduation Ceremony

If you completed some, or all, of your course at the Albany Campus, you can attend either

  • a ceremony in Albany, or
  • a ceremony in Crawley (Perth), or
  • graduate in absentia

You can only attend one ceremony.

 

The UWA Graduation: Albany Ceremony will take place on 4 February 2027.

If you choose to attend the Albany Ceremony, you must:

  1. Apply to Graduate in studentConnect as attending between Monday, 17 August 2026 - Tuesday, 8 September 2026
  2. Confirm your attendance in studentConnect between Friday, 2 October 2026 - Monday, 12 October 2026
  3. Email the Graduations Office via askUWA requesting to be allocated to the Albany Graduation Ceremony, after you have Confirmed your Attendance in studentConnect between Friday, 2 October 2026 - Monday, 12 October 2026
  4. Complete Course Completion Requirements by Friday, 8 January 2027
  5. Albany GFP Online Ordering Portal: Order your regalia and find out more about location and guest tickets here 

16 June 2026: Students who are currently allocated to graduate in the August 2026 round, who have completed some or all of their course in Albany, will receive an email from the Graduations Office, requesting confirmation of their preference to graduate in Crawley in August, or to graduate in Albany on 4 February 2027. 

Students must respond by 13 July 2026. Those who request to attend the  Albany ceremony, will be moved from the August 2026 ceremonies to the 4 February 2027 Albany ceremony.

  • OVERVIEW OF THE GRADUATIONS PROCESS FOR GRADUANDS ATTENDING THE ALBANY CEREMONY - 4 February 2027

    Step 1: Apply to Graduate Monday, 17 August 2026 - Tuesday, 8 September 2026

    • In Absentia application - There are in absentia conferrals once a month, and you'll be allocated to the next available date after you apply to graduate and complete your course requirements.
    • Attend a ceremony, see steps 2 to 6 

    Step 2: Confirm your attendance between Friday, 2 October 2026 - Monday, 12 October 2026

    Step 3: Email the Graduations team requesting to attend your ceremony in Albany date between Friday, 2 October 2026 - Monday, 12 October 2026 

    Step 4: Complete your course requirements by 8 January 2027

    Step 5: Order your tickets 

    Step 6: Attend your ceremony!

     

  • Ensure you have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number

    • It is an Australian Government requirement that from 01 January 2023, all higher education students must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) for their degree to be conferred. Students who do not have a USI by their chosen conferral date will not be graduated, and will be moved to the next conferral.
    •  Please click on the link below for information on how to create your USI.

     

  • Step 1: apply to graduate
    • Applications are open from Monday, 17 August 2026 - Tuesday, 8 September 2026.
    • You will receive an email inviting you to “Apply to Graduate” in studentConnect on Monday 17 August 2026.
    • The “Apply to Graduate” deadline is Tuesday, 8 September 2026.
    • It is important to “Apply to Graduate” to reserve a spot for you in the ceremony, even if there is only a small chance that you will not complete the course requirements before Friday, 8 January 2027.
  • Applying to graduate as attending or in absentia

    You can apply to graduate and attend an in-person ceremony or to graduate in absentia, without attending a ceremony.

    GRADUATING AS ATTENDING AT AN IN-PERSON CEREMONY

    • Your award will be conferred at an in-person ceremony (either in Crawley (Perth) or Albany)
    • You will receive your certificate at your ceremony


    GRADUATING IN ABSENTIA

    • You award can be conferred in absentia, without you attending a ceremony.
    • Your certificate will be mailed to you.
  • Step 2: confirm your attendance for your in-person ceremony
    • If you applied to graduate as Attending, you will receive an email from the Graduations Team on Friday, 2 October 2026 asking you to “Confirm your Attendance” via studentConnect. If you are confirming your attendance for a Crawley (Perth) ceremony, this email will include the date and time of your allocated ceremony. If you are confirming your attendance for an Albany ceremony, refer to STEP 3 for Albany.
    • You must confirm your attendance between Friday, 2 October 2026 - Monday, 12 October 2026.
    • If you have applied to attend your ceremony and you do not “Confirm your Attendance” by Monday, 12 October 2026, your graduation status will be changed from attending to in absentia.
  • STEP 3: EMAIL THE GRADUATIONS OFFICE ADVISING OF YOUR REQUEST TO GRADUATE IN ALBANY

    • IMPORTANT: Once you have completed the Confirmation of Attendance process in studentConnect, if you wish to be allocated to the Albany Graduation Ceremony scheduled for 4 February 2027, you must email the Graduations Team via askUWA between Friday, 2 October 2026 - Monday, 12 October 2026, in the following format:
      • Select 'Graduations' from the 'My enquiry is about' drop down 
      • Subject: Albany Graduation Ceremony request
      • Message: Include your student number and the award for which you would like to graduate at the Albany ceremony

    If you do not email the Graduations Team via AskUWA, you will be allocated to the Crawley (Perth) ceremony for your discipline even if you are enrolled as an Albany student.

  • STEP 4: MEETING COURSE COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

    • If you have not met your course requirements by Friday, 8 January 2027, your application to graduate (in person or in absentia) will be moved.
    • Applications to attend an in-person ceremony, are moved to the next round ceremonies.
    • Applications to graduate in absentia, will be allocated to the next available monthly in absentia ceremony, as soon as course requirements have been met.
    • If you would like to review your graduation status, log in to studentConnect and click the “Graduations” tab on the left
  • STEP 5: ACADEMIC REGALIA FOR ALBANY GRADUANDS

    Once you have confirmed your attendance and you have met course completion requirements, you will receive an email from the Graduations Team with further information and a link to order your academic dress. Please note that you will only be able to place your order after you have confirmed your attendance, your course has been officially completed, and you have emailed the Graduations Office advising that you would like to attend the Albany ceremony.

    If you don't receive the email within 24 hours, contact the Graduation Team via askUWA so your confirmation details can be checked.

    GFP Graduations is the University's preferred provider of academic dress. You can obtain your academic dress from any supplier as long as the academic dress complies with the University Policy on Graduation Academic Dress (Policy Number:UP11/49). Should your academic dress not comply, you will not be able to present on stage as you will not be appropriately attired AND at a regional campus, we are unable to cater for last minute requests. 

    Please order regalia at least 4 weeks prior to your ceremony to ensure the supplier is sufficiently stocked and able to be transported to Albany on time.

    • All academic regalia for Albany graduation attendees will be shipped directly to and from Albany Campus in one batch, by courier.
    • Graduands are to collect the regalia from UWA Albany staff on the day of the ceremony from the Albany Entertainment Centre (AEC). You will receive further details from UWA Albany to specify arrangements for regalia collection and gowning closer to the ceremony date. 
    • Regalia MUST be returned to UWA Albany Campus Administration Staff at the AEC immediately following the ceremony and reception.
  • STEP 6: GUEST TICKETS FOR ALBANY GRADUANDS

    Complimentary Guest tickets: To collect up to three complimentary guest tickets, please log in to the GFP online ordering portal from the date to be provided soon. You will be able to send your guests their electronic tickets via the portal.

  • ATTENDING GRADUANDS: INFORMATION ABOUT THE CEREMONY FOR ALBANY GRADUANDS

    2 weeks prior to Graduation, you will receive an email from Albany Administration, that gives you all the event-specific information for the day, for both you and your guests. 

  • ONCE YOU HAVE GRADUA
