How to build your timetable 

Step 1: Choose your preferences

During this period, you can select your preferred days and time for each of your unit’s classes. This gives you the best chance of getting a schedule that fits around your life and other commitments.  

To maximise your chances of a successful allocation, keep these points in mind: 

• Nominate at least four preferences for each class type (e.g tutorials, labs).  
• Make sure to submit your preferences before the deadline. If you don’t, CAS will automatically allocate your classes for you. 

Good to know: Our classes finish 15 minutes before the hour. For example a class scheduled from 10am to 11am will finish at 10.45am, giving you time to move to your next class. 

Step 2: We allocate your timetable  

During this time CAS processes thousands of student preferences to create the best possible timetable for everyone. The system will be temporarily closed while this process runs.  

Step 3: Review and adjust your schedule 

Your timetable is ready! Log in to CAS to see your allocated classes. Now is the time to make any adjustments; check all your classes have been allocated, swap to a different class time if a place is available, or join a waitlist.  

Keep logging in during this time, new classes will become available as other students make changes or classes are added to accommodate more students.

Step 4: Your semester begins!

Your timetable is ready and you are all set for the semester ahead. Use MazeMaps to find your way to your first class. If you can’t attend a lecture you’ve allocated in person, you can catch up via the lecture recording on LMS. 

If you add a unit after CAS adjustments close and you need assistance to be allocated to a class, follow the instructions on the CAS Dashboard. 

Good to know: Your classes are just one part of your university week. Remember to also make space for study, wellbeing, and getting involved in clubs and societies. Your MyUWA Calendar can help you bring it all together.
