Support for students
As a student at UWA, there are lots of ways you can get support.
Access our support services or join a network to meet other members of the UWA community with lived experience and allies.
Disability, health and wellbeing
If you have health, disability or wellbeing needs, there is confidential support available to help you thrive at UWA.
-
Book a career advice appointment
Students with a disability, medical condition or mental health condition can access specialised careers support. You can book a career advice appointment (student login required) to explore career options and workplace adjustments, and to discuss sharing disability-related information in a strengths-based way.
-
International Student Lounge
International students can visit the International Student Lounge, a dedicated space on campus to meet staff and student ambassadors who can support your transition to UWA.
-
Living Room
The Living Room is a relaxed student drop-in space on Crawley campus, here to support your wellbeing (no appointment needed). You can visit for a chat with a trained Peer Supporter about uni, work, friends, family or other relationships; recharge and unwind; or learn more and access support while waiting for another service.
-
Sensory rooms
The Library's Sensory Rooms provide safe spaces for students with neurodevelopmental and/or sensory needs.
-
UniAccess
UniAccess supports students whose disability, health condition, mental health condition or caring responsibilities may impact their studies. The team will develop a personalised UniAccess Academic Adjustment Plan (UAAP) for you, ensuring you have reasonable adjustments to support your learning.
-
UWA Medical Centre
The UWA Medical Centre provides medical care to support your health needs. Immediate family members are also able to access the service. GP consultations are available for a wide range of health needs. Co-located services include alcohol and drug counselling and physiotherapy services.
-
UWA Mental Health and Wellbeing Service
UWA Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is available to support you with wellbeing advice and counselling. Services can be tailored to individual needs, including support for financial concerns, family and domestic violence, or sexual harm.

Networks and groups
UWA has a range of networks and groups where students can connect with others who share similar experiences, interests or identities. Joining a network can help you build meaningful connections, access peer support, share experiences and contribute to a more inclusive UWA community
The UWA Student Guild
The UWA Student Guild has departments where you can join a community or get help advocating for your needs:
-
Access Department
The Access Department represents UWA students with disability, medical conditions, and mental health conditions, and students caring for someone with a disability.
-
The International Students' Department
The International Students' Department looks after the welfare of all international students studying at UWA.
-
The Pride Department
The Pride Department provides support, advice and regular social activities for LGBTIQA+ students.
-
The Women's Department
The Women's Department represents women and non-binary students on campus and aims to fight sexism and misogyny.
Clubs
-
Autism Social Club
The Autism Social Club welcomes autistic and neurodivergent students, including students who are diagnosed, self-identifying or exploring whether they may be neurodivergent. Allies are also welcome.
-
UWA Student Guild Clubs
You can join more than 100 UWA Student Guild Clubs to find other students with similar hobbies and interests, and to connect with students from similar cultural and religious backgrounds.
Report a concern
Students can visit the Student Conduct and Resolution Centre (SCRC) to get guidance on resolving a concern or making a report. The SCRC handles all matters confidentially. When making a report, you can decide whether to name yourself, ask someone to report on your behalf, or report anonymously.
