This micro-credential introduces the key data and form modelling that needs to be established and incorporated into a digital BIM model to enable the model to operate as a test bed for sustainable energy strategies and predict energy consumption from early stage design, at a level of detail that enables major sources of energy loss to be identified and proposed mitigation strategies assessed.
Students will model and evaluate the performance of a building, then develop and test improvement strategies to suit the constraints and requirements of that specific building.

This is the first of a set of three micro-credentials that together cover early stage and detailed energy analysis, evaluation of embodied energy, evaluation of daylighting and modelling techniques specific to building refurbishment and reuse.
This set of three is equivalent to the Sustainability unit in the Master of Building Information Modelling course at UWA and will provide credit for that unit.
