Award verification
If you're a third-party (institution, employer, or background screening agent), you can verify a UWA graduates’ qualification via award verification service.
There are three ways to verify a student’s qualification
1. Ask the student to share their documents
This is the fastest and easiest way for third parties to verify a student’s degree.
You may ask the graduate to share their UWA Testamur via My eQuals. All graduates from July 2018 have been issued Testamurs via My eQuals.
Third parties can trust in our My eQuals credentials with qualifications that are digitally certified and verified by UWA, protecting you against fraud. My eQuals ensures the authenticity of certified documents when accessed online through the My eQuals portal. Documents can only be uploaded or modified by the issuing university.
More information about the security of my equals can be found here.
2. Graduate Verification Service (GVS)
The Graduation Verification Service (GVS) is a simple, streamlined way for organisations and employers to quickly and easily verify a UWA graduate’s qualification back to 2010.
The service is offered by the same organisation that provides the My eQuals digital documents system utilised by the University for sharing qualifications digitally. Verification requests are handled through My eQuals Partner, which matches against the GVS to confirm the graduate’s qualification claims. The graduate must give consent for this verification to be undertaken.
How does it work?
- Create an account or login to your account.
- Order a verification check of the graduate.
- The graduate is sent an SMS with a link to a secure portal, allowing them to provide their academic qualification details for verification.
- The service will confirm if the graduate’s supplied qualification details are a 'match', 'partial match' or 'no match' against the University's records in the GVS.
- You will receive a notification of the verification result.
Please note:
- the date displayed is the conferral date and is not the date when the program requirements were met. Students who have met the requirements for an award, but have not yet had it conferred, will not be listed.
- if a person has changed their name since graduation, their award details may be under a previous name. Check with the graduate for the name recorded on their testamur.
For more information, visit the My eQuals website for more details.
3. Complete the award verification form
- Complete this form with the graduate’s details, contact information, and consent. UWA Third_Party_Consent_Form May 2026
- Submit this document online, along with receipt of $35 payment and photographic ID. All steps are linked as part of the online submission portal.
- Once all required documentation have been submitted, your request will be manually reviewed by the Award Verification Team and you will receive a notification of the verification result via email.
