The School of Indigenous Studies or ‘SIS’, as we like to call it, provides dedicated support for Indigenous students at UWA. It’s important to us that our students have everything you need to achieve your goals and thrive at university.

Grants and financial support
SIS provides financial support to Indigenous students, where possible.
Requests for student grants and financial assistance are reviewed and approved by the School of Indigenous Studies on a case-by-case basis. Please note, all applications are given careful consideration, however approval is not guaranteed.
Indigenous Student Grant
This grant supports professional development and activities relevant to your degree, such as conferences, study abroad and workshops. It might cover (in-full or in-part) conference/workshop tickets, airfares and/or daily allowance.

Eligibility criteria
- You must demonstrate that the activity will enhance your study and professional development.
- You can only apply for a grant for costs that have not been paid.
- You must attach the relevant documents (such as invitations, screenshots of ticket prices/other costs) to this application.

Financial assistance
This one-off payment supports Indigenous students experiencing financial stress that is impacting your study. It might cover (in-full or in-part) day-to-day essentials such as medical costs, transport costs, groceries or internet.
