Welcome back to Internationalisation Week!
We are excited to host Internationalisation Week 2025 – a University-wide initiative led by the UWA Global Engagement Office to celebrate our global connections and cultural diversity.
Join us from 22–26 September 2025 for a vibrant program of events and activities for staff and students that showcase international engagement, global mobility, cultural understanding, and community collaboration.

Event highlights
Matsuri
Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UWA Japanese Studies Society with Matsuri, a vibrant Japanese-style festival held in partnership with the City of Perth. This free evening event brings Oak Lawn to life with traditional dance and taiko performances, live music, delicious food stalls, martial arts demonstrations, mini games, and more. Don’t miss this special chance to experience the wonders of Japan right here on campus!

Parkrun
Join us for a special Parkrun event as part of the collaboration between the UWA Global Engagement Office and University of Western Australia Parkrun.
Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5km community event where participants can walk, jog, run, or roll (wheelchair-friendly) at their own pace. Everyone starts together, and thanks to the support of volunteers, no one finishes last.
This is a great opportunity for UWA staff and students to come together with one of the most diverse Parkrun communities in WA, meet new people, and celebrate UWA’s spirit of inclusivity and global connection. First-timers are warmly welcomed, with a briefing at 7:50am before an 8:00am start.
✨ Exclusive for this event: All participants in this session will receive a 7-day free gym membership from UWA Sport.

Multicultural Monday
Join the International Student Support Team for Cultural Showcase 5: Bangladesh, presented by student ambassador Nabiha Islam. This welcoming session offers a chance to explore Bangladeshi traditions, stories, and culture, while connecting with fellow students in a friendly and inclusive space.

Global Careers Fair
Looking to kick-start your career? As part of Internationalisation Week, the UWA Global Careers Fair is your chance to meet top employers, professional bodies, and industry experts face-to-face. Hosted by the UWA Education Innovation and Enterprise Office, the event will connect you with global opportunities, help you explore diverse career pathways, and build networks to support your future success. Don’t miss this valuable opportunity to discover what’s possible beyond the classroom!

Indonesian Cultural Day
Experience the colours and traditions of Indonesia at Indonesian Cultural Day, organised by the Indonesian Postgraduate Students and Scholars in Australia (AIPSSA UWA). Enjoy traditional dance performances, delicious Indonesian snacks, fun games, and a photobooth with cultural attire—an exciting opportunity to celebrate Indonesia’s rich heritage with friends and the UWA community.

Visa Seminar for International Students
Need advice on your student or post-study visa options? Join this Visa Seminar organised by the UWA Student Guild’s International Students Department, in collaboration with PMEC – Pathway Migration & Education Consultants. This informative session will give you the chance to hear from migration experts, ask questions, and gain practical tips to help you plan your future in Australia.

Garba Night
Celebrate Navratri with Garba Night, organised by Sanskriti – Association for Indian Culture and Student Support. Enjoy an evening of traditional Indian dance, music, and cultural festivities, including Garba, Dandiya Raas, and a best-dressed contest. With food, drinks, and plenty of energy, it’s a vibrant celebration open to all students, staff, alumni, and community members.

Kaiwa
As Japanese students from UWA’s Centre for English Language Teaching (CELT) finish their stay in Perth, the Japanese Studies Society (JSS) invites you to join a special Otsukare Kaiwa Party (meaning “good work” for finishing). This afternoon event combines JSS’s usual social language exchange with fun cultural activities, celebrating the CELT students’ time at UWA while welcoming all students who are interested in Japanese language and culture. It’s a great opportunity to practise Japanese, share cultures, and make new friends before the CELT students return to Japan.

GLO Café is a welcoming space for UWA students to connect over their global experiences. Celebrate cultural diversity at UWA’s biggest food and culture festival—Spring Feast, organised by the UWA Student Guild. Each year, thousands come together to enjoy international flavours and connect with the vibrant UWA community—don’t miss it!

The Great German Club Bake Off
Celebrate Internationalisation Week with the UWA German Club at The Great German Club Bake Off! Put your creativity to the test by designing your own Lebkuchen—traditional German gingerbread heart cookies. With free cookies, icing, and prizes for the best designs, this fun and tasty event is open to all UWA students, come along, get creative, and enjoy a sweet slice of German culture.
