Workshop for families – Noongar Language and Lullabies

Join Charmaine Councillor at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery as she leads a lullaby workshop for families.

Charmaine Councillor, the CEO of a local Noongar Language hub in Bunbury; Wardandi Miya-k Kaadadjiny Aboriginal Corporation, established in 2020, has been leading language and song writing workshops for Community Art Nework’s project Lullabies, teaching Noongar language through the creation of songs for children.

An author and artist of five children’s books in both Noongar and English, Charmaine was a consultant and writer for the children’s NITV program Waabiny Time. She is also a talented musician and is the singer and guitarist of her band WARANGKA.

Charmaine is studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Languages and Linguistics, and her aspirations are to encourage her community to embrace and continue to revive and maintain Noongar Language for future generations.
