Birrundudu Drawings
In 1945, over a three-month period, sixteen Aboriginal men at Birrundudu Station created 810 crayon drawings depicting their extensive knowledge of Country, Ceremony and Ancestral narratives. Apart from a handful of drawings, most have never been seen. The exhibition is the result of four years of active re-engagement with descendants and communities connected to the original artists, who have helped bring the stories and cultural significance of these drawings back to life. The exhibition showcases more than 100 of these drawings and includes a contemporary response by artist Jimmy Tchooga.
Part of the 2026 Perth Festival Visual Arts Program. Presented by The Berndt Museum at The Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery with support from The Berndt Research Foundation and Warlayirti Artists.
