Artist in conversation: Kylie Bracknell

Saturday, 14 October, 2-3pm

Discussion about the genesis and inspiration leading to the commissioning process and production of the new art work.

Join curator Gemma Weston and artist Kylie Bracknell as they discuss the genesis of Bracknell’s new work, commissioned for WILDFLOWER SEASON.Kylie Bracknell is renowned as a director, writer, actor and for her work in Noongar language reclamation, particularly as the driving force behind Hecate – an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth performed in Noongar - and Fist of Fury Noongar Daa, which premièred respectively at the 2020 and 2021 Perth Festivals. The art gallery is a new context for Bracknell’s cross-disciplinary creative and cultural practice. This new work sees her draw from personal archives of photographic and video imagery to explore the shared responsibilities to Country, and the displacement of Aboriginal people from their ancestral lands.
