2021 Season 2 Opening Night

Friday 16 July, 6pm-8pm

We are pleased to invite you to the opening of our Season 2 exhibitions:

Feeling abstract?
Paintings from the UWA Art Collection, 1950–1990

Feeling abstract? explores abstract painting over a forty year period through works in the UWA Art Collection.

The exhibition features key examples of Australian abstraction of the 20th century and is a unique opportunity to view dynamic, large-scale paintings from the Collection, several of which have been included in major national exhibitions but have not been on public display at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery for several decades.

Works from the Cruthers Collection of Women's Art

Featuring works of grit, weight and significance, Matter focuses upon materials and materiality.

The exhibition brings together paintings by Lisa Wolfgramm, Carol Rudyard, Susan Norrie, Amanda Davies and Julie Dowling; ceramics by Joan Campbell, the Hermannsburg Potters Group and Toni Warburton; textiles by Eveline Kotai and Rhonda and Susannah Hamlyn; installation works by Michele Nikou and Sarah Goffman and more.

To be opened by Jo Faulkner, Associate Director, Education Strategy

Refreshments will be served.

Please note: Due to Covid-19 safety regulations, registration is essential for this event via Eventbrite and will be checked on arrival. If you are feeling unwell, please cancel your booking on Eventbrite or by contacting our staff on 6488 3707 or [email protected].
