Chancellor’s Laureate
A Chancellor's Laureate may be awarded to recognise distinguished academic contributions. It is awarded to academics for their exceptional scholarly leadership, innovation, and impact or that they have made a transformative impact on the University’s academic reputation or intellectual life. If the nominee is already a recipient of Chancellor’s Medal, the nominee must demonstrate sustained scholarly leadership, innovation and impact since their last award.
Those eligible for the award are:
- Former academic staff of the University
- Emeriti Professor of the University
- Retired or retiring academic (by 31 December)
- Chancellor’s Medal Recipient (Academic)
The awarding of the Chancellor's Laureate is governed by the Honorary Degrees, Chancellor's Medal and Chancellor’s Laureate Policy. This policy is to be read in conjunction with the Honorary Degrees, Chancellor's Medal and Chancellor’s Laureate Procedure.
The Chancellor’s Laureate for Academic Excellence is not merely an award—it is a statement of institutional pride and aspiration. It serves as the University’s highest honour for academic distinction, reserved for those whose scholarly work has not only advanced their field but also transformed the University’s academic culture, reputation, and global standing.
