Get involved in your campus gallery and gain hands-on, professional experience in a range of different positions.

Sculpt 2024

Sculpt provides UWA students with a year-long engagement opportunity, immersing them in the workings of an art gallery. 

Throughout the program, participants curate a series of events and projects in partnership with the LWAG team. They contribute insights to enhance the gallery's connection with UWA students and collaborate closely with the gallery team to foster an inclusive, accessible and meaningful environment for students. Through this experience, students acquire valuable skills applicable across diverse professional settings.

 

Purpose

  • Act as liaison between UWA students and LWAG staff, offering insights and recommendations to enhance the gallery's relationship with the student body. 

  • Collaborate with LWAG staff to conceive and execute innovative initiatives and public programs tailored to engage UWA students. 

  • Promote LWAG's mission, exhibitions, and programs to the UWA student community, serving as enthusiastic advocates and ambassadors within the campus community and beyond. 

 

Commitment

  • Attend regular Tuesday afternoon meetings with LWAG staff for ongoing collaboration and planning. 

  • Commit to a one-year term as a Sculpt member, with exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis.

 

Outcomes

  • Curate a diverse array of student events, programs, and initiatives through an inclusive expression of interest (EOI) process, fostering a vibrant and engaging environment for UWA students within the gallery. 

  • Acquire practical knowledge and experience regarding the operational functions of art galleries, including an understanding of organisational roles and cultural significance.

  • Develop skills in audience engagement strategies and the design and implementation of public programming. 

  • Gain insights into the structures and functions of committees, fostering a deeper understanding of organisational dynamics and governance principles.

Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Placement Positions

LWAG offers a number of different Work-Integrated Learning Placement positions for UWA students to get hands-on experience working alongside a staff member in the gallery. Positions include assisting on developing public programs, exhibitions, digital media, and marketing. Available positions vary semester to semester and are posted on UWA's Career Hub site and can be found by students here.

These positions give students hands-on experience working alongside a staff member assisting on tasks such as developing public programs, exhibition research, digital media and marketing.

The Gallery is currently accepting applications for the following positions for Semester 1 2024: 

  • Audience Development Assistant
  • Research Assistant
