EDFAA Library changes

EDFAA Library is currently closed until late March 2026, due to the Nedlands Campus uplift program which is upgrading teaching spaces across buildings on the campus. This uplift program is separate to the Student Accommodation building project.

Until late March:

  • Library staff will assist with enquiries in our temporary location on the ground floor of the Education Building in room G29, between the hours of 10am to 1.00pm and 1.30pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
  • If you need access to collections, use the request an item function in OneSearch. When notified by the Library, you can collect your items from the temporary location, usually the next business day after your request is received.
  • Students who need items from the 24 Hour Loan collection (previously the High Demand collection) can request assistance at the help point. As our temporary help point is closed on weekends, these items are unavailable during that time. Most of the Library collection is available online, and we encourage you to use online versions wherever possible.
  • If you need a place to study, room G29 will be open access to any student for study during the Library closure. Students are also welcome to visit any of our UWA Libraries on the Crawley and QE II Campuses, or use EZONE
  • Our Book a Librarian service will continue to be available with consultations delivered online rather than face-to-face.

When the Library re-opens, the floor will feature:

  • The information help desk staffed by Library staff in its previous location, with close proximity to the 24 Hour loan collection.
  • Quiet study seats to the north side of the floor.
  • Collaborative study seats extending from the east side of the floor.
  • Four refurbished Group Study Rooms in new locations.
  • A consolidated Library Collection location to the west of the floor.
  • Continued access to Student Lockers, self-service facilities, including student lockers, self-check machines, and print/copy/scan machines.
  • Accessibility improvements, with access via the Education Building lift during operating hours.
  • A shared kitchen space available to all students, to be available in mid-2026.

On re-opening, please be aware that the south side of the floor will be an active building site, for your own safety please follow all posted safety signage.  As part of the Nedlands Campus uplift, the south side of the floor will be repurposed as a new teaching facility administered by the Department of Nursing. At this stage we expect building works to complete mid-year. There may be occasional noise disruptions however we will endeavour to keep these to a minimum. Thank you for your patience during this period.

Collection changes: EDFAA and Reid Libraries

As part of the EDFAA Library closure, we are temporarily relocating some collection items from EDFAA Library to the Reid Library Level 2. These collection moves are taking place throughout November 2025, so please be aware there will be some disruption in these Library spaces while the items are being relocated.

Some EDFAA Library collection items will remain at EDFAA Library, however they will be inaccessible during the EDFAA Library closure.

If you urgently require items for teaching, learning or research during this period please contact the Library and we can source a copy. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Reid Library Memory Book

To commemorate the refurbishment of the first floor of the Reid Library, we invited current and former UWA staff and students to send in their best memories of the building. We received a range of colourful memories about the Library and these have now been compiled in our Memory Book available here. The Memory Book also features a range of historical photos capturing Reid throughout the years. Thank you to those who contributes their stories.
