If you’re considering undertaking an MBA, it’s important to weigh up your options carefully before deciding which program to join.

MBA Directors Professor Allan Trench and Dr Paul Crompton from The University of Western Australia’s Business School encourage you to ask these key questions to find out if a program is right for you.

1. Is there a cohort experience?

Having a ‘cohort experience’ means you’ll begin and end a program with the same group of people. “A carefully planned cohort experience means you’ll have the chance to network, build rapport, work closely together and learn from each other in the process,” says Allan.

2. How will it help my career?

Paul highlights the importance of institutional support: “A top-class MBA program should have dedicated career services that include individualised career coaching, a strong career mentor program with senior executive mentors and plenty of networking opportunities alongside online resources.”

3. Is it internationally accredited?

To ensure you’re highly employable around the world, make sure the course is fully accredited. Allan explains the UWA Business School’s accreditations: “We have EQUIS accreditation (the most comprehensive institutional accreditation system for business and management schools), as well as being accredited internationally by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. What this means is the quality of teaching and course content is assured and meets the highest standards.”

UWA’s MBA suite of programs includes the MBA Flexible and Intensive options, as well as multiple graduate certificates in Health Leadership and Management, Business, Social Impact and more. Search ‘UWA MBA’ to find the right course for you.
