What are the entry requirements at UWA?
Academic requirements
To study an undergraduate degree at UWA, you’ll need to have completed your secondary school qualifications. These qualifications vary depending on your home country, but you can check what’s required to study at UWA here.

English language requirements
UWA accepts several different English language tests and qualifications. Each one has a minimum grade required to study at UWA, but this can change depending on the course you’re applying for. To check UWA’s English language requirements, click here.

Do I need a visa to study?
If you’re coming from overseas to study at UWA, you’ll need to apply for a Student visa (Subclass 500). Here is a handy checklist to help you with the process.
As part of the application process, you’ll need:
- Identification, such as your birth certificate
- Your passport – ideally this should be valid for the duration of your studies
- Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from UWA, which we’ll send you once you’ve been accepted into the course of your choice
- Genuine Temporary Entrant requirement, which proves you only intend to stay in Australia temporarily
- Valid private health insurance, also known as Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
- Proof that you meet the financial requirements to study in Australia
- If you’re under the age of 18 you’ll need to make sure you can provide proof of your welfare arrangements, including a Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW), so that your safety is guaranteed while studying here
What does the application process look like?
You can either apply directly to UWA via our website, or through an agent of your choice. The online process via UWA Apply is easy to follow and allows you to manage your application.
When you’re applying to study at UWA, you’ll need to provide proof of your academic and English-language results, as well as your personal details and course preferences.
Once you have sent your application and supporting documents, and if your application is successful, you’ll receive a Letter of Offer. It sets out the course you’ll be enrolled in, any enrolment conditions, the fees you’ll pay, and the refund available if you don’t complete your course. To confirm your place, you’ll need to sign and return the paperwork provided as part of this letter.
After you’ve accepted your offer and paid the deposit, you’ll be sent a CoE, usually by email. Your CoE details the start date for your course, as well as your course fees and the duration of your studies.
Now, you can apply for your visa! If you’re applying for a student visa through the Department of Home Affairs’ online system, you’ll need your CoE to lodge your application. Make sure that you meet all the requirements for a student visa before you accept your UWA offer or pay any tuition fees.
