Hear from Chanuli, a current international student from Sri Lanka studying Bachelor of Arts. Chanuli shares how the value of the Global Excellence Scholarship helped her choose to study at UWA.
Meet Chanuli
“Hi, my name is Chanuli, I’m from Sri Lanka and I study a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychological and Behaviour Sciences and Criminology at UWA.”
Why did you decide to study in Perth over other study destinations?
“I wanted to study in Perth over other states because of the lifestyle. It is less busy, more serene and I really like that. The reason I wanted to come to UWA is because I love the campus, and I got offered a good scholarship that helped me make my decision.”
Did you receive a scholarship to study at UWA as an international student?
“One of the reasons I chose to study at UWA is because I got the Global Excellence Scholarship. This scholarship is helpful because it acts as a fee reduction and the value helped to cement my decision to come here over the other universities I had received offers from.”
What is your favourite thing about UWA?
“Something that I love about UWA is that there are so many clubs and societies that you can be part of. I am the Treasurer for the Harry Potter club and I’m part of the Sri Lankan association as well. It’s a great way to meet other people!”
What are your favourite places to visit in Perth?
“One of the places I enjoy going, I try to go once or twice a year is Adventure World. I love the water rides and all the other fun things you can do there!”
Is there any advice you would give to other students considering Perth?
“Some pieces of advice I would like to give to future students or anyone considering studying in Perth, is that it is a great multicultural city, so come here with an open mind, be ready to make a lot of friends, meet a lot of people from different backgrounds and embrace a lot of new experiences. You will definitely have a great time!”
