Achievement: UWA’s Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is playing a lead role in a mental health research project that has been awarded $2.95 million in funding as part of the Commonwealth Government’s $20 million additional funding for mental health. The project aims to test people’s reaction to a variety of drugs used to treat depression in order to make advances for future treatments. UWA is providing a clinical testing site and assisting with the research. The national project is led by St Vincent’s Clinical Genomics Unit and supported by WA hospitals, HBF and mental health group Meeting for Minds.

Achievement: UWA’s Forrest Hall is one of four WA projects to be recognised in the 2020 Housing Industry Association Australian Housing Awards. The project, undertaken by Jaxon Construction, was described in the awards as a landmark development overlooking to Swan River with sandy-hued blockwork to give it an enduring feel. It has been designed to provide a stimulating and creative living environment for students and rising research stars.
