Meet Nikhita (but you can call her Nikhi), Bachelor of Commerce student, amateur food critic and your Guild President for 2025!
Nikhi (she/her) was initially drawn to UWA for the aesthetics of the place – the architecture, the gardens and of course, the peacocks, but over time has developed a deeper love and appreciation for the campus culture and community.
“No matter who you are or where you come from, there’s a place for you here,” she says.
You'll find people who understand you, inspire you to grow, and challenge you to become the best version of yourself. That's what makes UWA so special and what has made my journey here truly unforgettable.
Nikhi is no stranger to the UWA Student Guild, serving as the 2024 General Secretary, and she’s looking forward to continuing to give back to the student community.
“To me, success isn’t just about getting through university — it's about personal growth, facing challenges, and continuously improving. And while that journey can be tough, you don’t have to do it alone. I want to help create a Guild that provides every student with the tools, opportunities, and support they need to thrive,” she says.
Some other priorities for her Guild tenure will be completing Stage 1 of the Guild Master Plan and activation of the Guild Village, continuing initiatives that bring students together to create a sense of belonging on campus, and exploring support services to ensure students have everything they need to thrive academically and personally. But she’s not doing it alone – “the Guild is a big team effort, with amazing staff, passionate Guild councillors, student-led committees, and so many others all working to make your student experience better.”
So if you want to find Nikhi, pop by the Guild 9am-5pm for a chat (she’s a self-proclaimed yapper) or you’ll find her in the Tav – “it’s not the most glamorous spot – but the energy there is unmatched (and there’s $7 pints)!” – creating connections and enjoying UWA life!
