Meet Peter – he loves tending to his garden, spending time with his dog Furphy and rowing along the Swan River. He’s also a 2024 Westpac Future Leaders Scholar which is supporting his PhD studies on how climate change is affecting the health and welfare of livestock.
Peter (he/him) says the Westpac Future Leaders Scholarship is unlike any other scholarship on offer.
The support I’ve received from Westpac has allowed me the freedom to fully immerse myself in my research and connect with other incredibly talented young researchers from a variety of disciplines
“The scholarship is not only focused on providing incredible financial support but developing you as an individual. It also offers you access to the Westpac Scholars Network full of incredibly talented and driven individuals who are all focused on improving Australia for the future.”
For anyone interested in applying for the scholarship next year, he’d be more than happy to have a coffee and chat about the application process.
Peter’s top tips for a successful application:
- Have a very clear understanding of what you want to achieve and what success looks like to you. To get Westpac and others to buy into your vision, you need to know what it is and believe fully in it yourself.
- Be yourself. Westpac want to know who you are as a person so they can help develop the best version of yourself.
- Don’t overthink it. The interview process is extremely unique and like nothing I have experienced before. If you are being yourself and being honest in everything you are saying, don’t spend time overthinking things. Everything they are asking is to learn more about you.
Applications for 2025 Westpac Future Leaders Scholarships close on 29 August 2024.
