Perth is the perfect place to live, work and study. From the fantastic lifestyle to the endless career opportunities once you graduate, it’s not hard to see why so many international students choose to study and launch their career here. But you don’t need to just take our word for it.

Here is what four of our current international students have to say about why they love studying on campus in Perth:

Calvin Lee

Calvin is an international student from Malaysia studying a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Marketing and Management at UWA.

The multicultural city

“My favourite thing about Perth so far has to be how multicultural the city is and how peaceful it is.

Being from Malaysia, it is a pretty multicultural country and Perth has been a seamless adaptation for me. The people are so friendly and welcoming here and just being made to feel like I belong and am welcome – it is a wonderful feeling to have as an international student.”

The study environment

“The campus at UWA is stunning as well. There's always places to sit and chat, meet people and study. It's just a really conducive studying environment for me here at UWA.”

The people

“My favourite thing about UWA is it provides me the opportunities to be involved in lots of different things and meet people from different countries with different cultural backgrounds.

The people here are so friendly! Studying here is great opportunity for me to broaden my horizons and get something beyond my degree outside of my curriculum. Also, I think the campus is really beautiful, it's such a bio-diverse hotspot.”

Anna Luo

The course structure

UWA has a very flexible course structure, so that you can combine a few different passions into one degree. Take myself as an example, I'm doing a Finance and German Studies - that's two completely different areas but I was able to combine that and do my two majors here at UWA!”

The career support

“Another one of my favourite things is the Career Mentor Link program, which really helped me to learn more about the field I wanted to work in. This is a half year long program where you are paired with a mentor that works in the industry and you meet up once or twice a month to get tips and advice on what you can improve on to work on in that industry. I found this very helpful!”

Sophie Trinh

The lifestyle

“My favourite thing about Perth is the lifestyle and the nature. I really like going to the beaches or going hiking on the weekend, and you can easily do everything within 20 minutes of driving in Perth.”

The food

“Perth is multicultural, so you don’t need to worry about the food. I was really worried that there wouldn’t be Vietnamese food and was unsure what I would eat. But Perth has everything you need, so you don’t need to stress!”
